Mariswe (Pty) Ltd is a South African-based infrastructure advisory company providing tailored infrastructure services to clients. Over 50 years we have been delivering civil engineering consulting services in areas of water and sanitation, structures and transportation while also providing infrastructure planning, project management and diversified services.

The company has built a proud tradition of excellence in providing engineering solutions with integrity across sub-Saharan Africa over the past 51 years, we have extended our reach and exposure into West Africa where we continue to deliver infrastructure that improves lives.

Mariswe is committed to providing consistent, high-quality services to our clients & we have continuously held ISO 9001 certification for our quality management system since 2007.

The company has over 145 employees operating across four regions in South Africa: Inland Provinces, KwaZulu-Natal, Eastern Cape and Western Cape, each lead by the respective Divisional Head. Executive managers in each region are responsible for projects and profitability in key service delivery areas. Cross-border projects are lead by senior executives with decision-making capabilities. 

Infrastructure Advisors are senior executives with vast experience in civil engineering who use that experience to engage and provide support to our clients and employees. They are available to advise clients on broad range of infrastructure issues including infrastructure planning, maintenance and funding options. 

Our solutions-based culture has led us to broaden our client base, offering a leading role throughout project life-cycles from capital development through operation, maintenance and closure of projects. 

This approach harnesses the multi-disciplinary skills of our teams in South Africa and across the African continent to offer innovative and diverse project packages under a single umbrella. 

Mariswe is 100% employee owned with 60.87% direct shareholding, 25.01% by the Mariswe Black Employee Trust (MBET), and 14.17% held by the Mariswe Share Trust.

Division heads of these areas of expertise provide oversight on large technically complex projects and ensure that the company is properly resourced and at the forefront of emerging engineering innovation.

Transportation

Mariswe is a leader in integrated transportation services throughout the infrastructure life cycle from concept and design to operation and maintenance. Water and Sanitation

Mariswe’s comprehensive water engineering services span the abstraction, conveyance, storage and drainage of raw, potable, treated and waste water. We have substantial experience in large multidisciplinary water and wastewater treatment projects across Africa. Structures

Mariswe’s structures portfolio includes all transportation and water related structures, as well as commercial, industrial, institutional and residential structures. We aim to create structural schemes suitable for purpose, sensibly economical, and not unduly sensitive to change. Uncomplicated structural solutions that are easy to build provide good benchmarks. Infrastructure Planning

Mariswe formulates strategic level multi-stakeholder plans for the development and life-cycle management of infrastructure. Infrastructure Advisory

A core high-level team explores opportunities for Mariswe to combine management, planning, consulting and project-specific expertise in the provision of comprehensive project lifecycle solutions in diverse sectors. This includes agriculture, mining and telecommunications infrastructure where Mariswe already has strong project experience, as well as emerging sustainable markets. The Infrastructure Advisory Team focuses on the private sector, public private partnerships (PPPs), and institutional finance organisations such as World Bank.

Integrated Construction Unit (iCU) Contract Model

Mariswe’s home-grown iCU contract, a risk management methodology suited to dynamic project environments, has been widely adopted with much success throughout southern Africa.
