As part of the national transport strategy, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality embarked on the planning of an integrated rapid public (bus) transport network incorporating construction of 37 km of bus rapid transit route with 42 median bus stations, one depot and two holding areas.

All intersections along the route are compliant with universal access and non-motorized standards, while the stations are designed with the necessary safety and security systems for 24-hour traffic and passenger surveillance. The system is managed from a central traffic management centre.
