Scope Of Work As the lead consultant in a joint venture with SMEC South Africa, Mariswe project managed the planning, design and tender documentation phases and co-ordinated the activities of numerous discipline experts. Mariswe’s services included procuring specialists for topographical surveys, geotechnical investigations, ground penetration scanning for services detection, and traffic surveys; providing regular environmental compliance information and employment creation data; issue of monthly fee accounts; and presenting monthly cash flow forecasts, infrastructure quantitative heat maps, progress and rollout programmes, and risk analysis reports.

Project Detail
As part of the national transport strategy, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality embarked on the planning of an integrated rapid public (bus) transport network incorporating construction of 37 km of bus rapid transit route with 42 median bus stations, one depot and two holding areas.
All intersections along the route are compliant with universal access and non-motorized standards, while the stations are designed with the necessary safety and security systems for 24-hour traffic and passenger surveillance. The system is managed from a central traffic management centre.
