Project Detail
Mariswe was appointed to procure professional services for implementation of a project implemented by the DBSA to upgrade 44 rural clinics in the Eastern Cape. This includes the following tasks for each clinic:
- Condition and needs assessments;
- Detailed planning and design, including development of a clinical brief;
- Procurement management;
- Construction monitoring.
Standard layout templates and the NDoH Infrastructure Unit Support Services Standards were initially supplied as the templates for design specification.
Mariswe’s assessments showed that all 44 clinics needed different modifications and extensions. This involved engaging with clinic staff in remote rural areas to identify individual requirements and formulating customised metrics to determine the scope of work for each project.
In addition to detailed planning and design in accordance with the clinical briefs and GAP analyses, Mariswe has explored alternative sustainable water and sanitation solutions to assist the client in providing access to basic services in the challenging terrain.
